Hoshiarpur, Punjab (April 13, 2013): Paying glowing tributes to the martyrs of 1978 episode in which 13 Sikhs laid down their lives while protesting peacefully against blasphemous acts of Nirankari cult in Amritsar on this day, the Dal Khalsa on Saturday urged the youth to remain guarded and united to foil their nefarious designs of enemy’s agencies that are hatching conspiracies to divide us on religious lines.

While addressing the gathering of its youth wing on Baisakhi day, Dal Khalsa head H S Dhami made proverbial call to empower (politically and socially) younger generation to save them from falling into the trap of social evils like apostasy, corruption and drug menace. “Today is the National day of the Sikhs. On this auspicious day, we reiterate that Sikhs are a sovereign people and they desire to become the masters of their own destiny and also seek peaceful resolution to Punjab conflict.”

Taking a dig at Badals, he said “there is lawlessness in the state”. Corrupt and tainted officials have taken plump postings and are on centre stage. Referring to the ban imposed by Punjab government on film “Sadda Haq”, he said political leadership has succumbed under the pressure from police leadership. Even if one section of the society was inconvenient with the film, imposing ban was not the answer”. He described the (Indian) democracy as sham.

Taking exception over the dismissal of petition of Prof Devinderpal Singh Bhullar by the Supreme Court, he described the decision as travesty of justice. He said their group would write to German government urging them to exercise its diplomatic pressure in stopping Bhullar’s execution as he was extradited to India from Germany in 1995. He said it was high time for the people of Punjab to show resolve against the capital punishment. Slamming the BJP for welcoming the SC decision on Prof Bhullar, he questioned the SAD leadership for aligning with Hindutva force.

Prominent amongst those who present were SYP head Ranbir Singh and senior leader Prabhjot Singh, Paramjit Singh, Manjit SIngh, Noblejeet Singh.
