Amritsar (August 23, 2011): The radical Sikh body, Dal Khalsa, has also joined in blaming both the previous and present state government for their land acquisition policies.

The organization blamed Congress and Akali Dal for commercializing and criminalizing the polity of the state thus eroding the values and dignity of its people.

Describing the recent events in Gobindpura (Mansa) as a part of “continued policies of injustice and indifference against farmers,” Dal Khalsa leader Kanwar Pal Singh in a written statement on Monday said both Akali Dal and Congress were captives of corporate sectors. Business tycoons eyeing on Punjab’s precious land grease the palms of politicians in order to exploit the dismal economic conditions of the farmer’s.

There was no policy difference between Akali Dal and Congress vis-à-vis land acquisition in the state is concerned. Kanwar Pal Singh said it made little difference who headed the governments as both Akalis and Congressmen were pro-corporate sectors and anti-farmers. The traditional pro-farmer stance of SAD has become thing of the past, he alleged.

To drive his point of home, he said what Captain Amrinder Singh led Congress government did with the farmers of three villages in Barnala district to appease Trident group, the present Akali government led by Badals has done the same with the farmers of Mansa District. “Ironically, both had treated and handled the farmers issue in a repressive manner”. Reminding Captain Amrinder’s wrongdoing, he said Bhai Daljit Singh was framed under sedition law when he protested against his govt’s forceful acquisition of 376 acres of Sanghera, Fatehgarh Chhanna and Dhaula villages in Barnala District.

He further said that farmers were passing through a critical period and their land should not be compulsorily acquired in any part of the state. Painting the picture grim and volatile, he said forcing anyone to accept the money was highly deplorable.
