Sikh Community Centre in Northampton hosts exhibition featuring artefacts from Sikh-Punjabi community

Northampton: Northampton’s first Sikh-Punjabi Exhibition opening took place on Sunday February 8, 10am to 2.30pm at Siri Guru Singh Sabha Gurdwara (Sikh Temple) on St George’s Street.

Sikh Community Centre in Northampton hosts exhibition featuring artefacts from Sikh-Punjabi community

The exhibition is the outcome of a two-year ‘Punjabi Pride’ 2 run by the Sikh Community Centre & Youth Club (SCCYC) in partnership with ‘Young Roots Heritage Lottery Fund’. The work was conducted by three generations of Sikhs to preserve heritage and explore issues arranged traditions such as arranged marriages.

A spokesman said: “Breath-taking artefacts, artwork and workshops were showcased to more than 300 people and excellent feedback is being received. We are very proud to have this amazing permanent exhibition space, a first for Northampton Sikhs!”
