Anandpur Sahib: Continuing the tradition of internal Panthic dialogue on significant occasions, Panth Sewak Jatha Doaba organized the annual Subaad Sabha at Gurdwara Ajitgarh Sahib in the historical city of Anandpur Sahib. This initiative, held in the context of Holla Mohalla on 11 March 2025, seeks to revive the Khalsa Panth’s tradition of open discourse within Sikh institutions and organizations on pressing issues.
The Subaad Sabha was attended by various Panthic and Sikh Jathas, Sampardais, organizations, institutions, and intellectuals, all joining to deliberate on the current state of Sikh affairs. The discussions primarily revolved around the causes behind the prevailing disarray in major Panthic institutions, including the Takht Sahiban, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), and the Shiromani Akali Dal.
Bhai Mandhir Singh of Panth Sewak Jatha Doaba reiterated that the purpose of the Subaad Sabha is not to reach immediate conclusions but rather to open a space for internal dialogue among diverse Sikh sections. He emphasized that this initiative is a step toward reviving the traditional Panthic practice of discourse at Jor-Melas such as Holla Mohalla. Since its inception in 2020, the Sabha has been held annually, except in 2021 due to the Farmers’ Protest.
Various Sikh organizations and Jathas participated in the event, including Akhand Kirtani Jatha, Panch Pardhani Panthic Jatha, Budha Dal, Misl Shaheedan Tarna Dal, Dal Khalsa, Sikh Sadbhavna Dal, Kendri Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Waris Punjab De, Sikh Jatha Malwa, Lakhi Jangal Khalsa Jatha, and the All India Sikh Students Federation.
Prominent personalities who attended the Sabha included Jathedar Baba Nagar Singh, Bhai Bakshish Singh from Akhand Kirtani Jatha, Giani Shamsher Singh from Budha Dal, Bhai Daljit Singh Bittu, Bhai Lal Singh Akalgarh, S. Kanwarpal Singh from Dal Khalsa, Kushaldeep Singh from SADA, Sukhdeep Singh Meekay, Kanwar Charhat Singh, Palwinder Singh Talwara, Baba Pargat Singh Firozepur from Panth Akali Tarna Dal, Giani Tejbir Singh Amritsar, Malkeet Singh Bhawanigarh, Bhai Sukhpreet Singh Palasaur, a well-known Sikh Pracharak, Dr. Sikandar Singh from Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University in Fatehgarh Sahib, Dr. Sukhpal Singh from Khalsa College Amritsar, Dr. Kanwaljit Singh from Sri Guru Angad Dev College in Khadur Sahib, and Dr. Gurpreet Singh from Gurmat Ate Sikh Twarikh Bunga Sri Amritsar. The gathering also saw the presence of Dhadhi Gurdial Singh Lakhpur, Bhai Balbir Singh Talwandi, a renowned Dhadhi, and Bhai Harjeet Singh Bir from Takht Sri Damdama Sahib.
Apart from the mentioned names, several other Sikh presentatives, scholars, and activists participated in the Subaad Sabha.
The Subaad Sabha concluded with a commitment to continue these discussions, ensuring that the tradition of Panthic dialogue remains alive. The event served as a crucial platform for exchanging ideas and strengthening Sikh unity amid contemporary challenges.
