Andhra Pardesh, India (October 06, 2013): According to a news reported on website of the Times of India (TOI): “[w]hile condemning the act of burning Saroop of Sri Guru Granth Sahib and vandalizing Vijyanagram Gurdwaa by anti-Telengana protestors in Andhra Pardesh, Shiromani Gurdwaa Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has sought strict action against those involved in sacrilegious act”.

According to a news reported by Day and Night News (DNN) two Saroops of Sri Guru Granth Sahib were damaged by the attackers, who were reportedly participating in anti-Tilangana protests.

As per media reports protesters attacked the Gurdwara Sahib and beat up the Sewadas and burnt the Saroops of Sri Guru Granth Sahib.

Shiromani Committee (SGPC) president Avtar Singh Makkar said that Sikhs were deeply hurt on the incident of attacking Shikligar Sikhs and Gurdwara before burning Sri Guru Granth Sahib on the road.

The SGPC President has sought intervention of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and AP chief minister Kiran Kumar Reddy to take stern action against those hurting Sikhs and Sikhs religious sentiments.
