Sikh organizations & personalities express deep grief over terror strike on Sikhs in USA

Ludhiana, Punjab (August 06, 2012): Various Sikh organizations and personalities, in Punjab have expressed their deep grief on killing of innocent Sikhs at a Gurudwara Sahib in the Milwaukee suburb of Oas Creek, Wisconsin (USA).

Akal Takhat Sahib Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh and SGPC President Avtar Singh Makker have expressed their solidarity with the victims and their families.

Akali Dal Panch Pardhani led by Bhai Daljit Singh Bittu has also expressed sympathy for victims and their family. “Terror strike on #sikh #Gurudwara in #USA & killing of 6 Sikhs is shocking & saddening. We stand in solidarity with the victim families”, Panch Pardhani (@panchpardhani) tweeted soon after the occurrence of incident.

“These incidents reveal that despite all sincere efforts the Sikh nations, not represented by any territorial state power, was unable to create awareness about their identity and ideology. Every occurrence of tragic incidents of attacks on Sikhs expresses on need of Sikh state, Khalistan” Panch Pardhani has maintained.

Dal Khalsa has termed the incident as “one of the most shocking incident, which has deeply disturbed us”.

“We express our solidarity with those who are injured including the Police officer. In this hour of grief, we stand by our fellow brethren residing in US” reads the statement issued by Kanwarpal Singh, Spokesman of Dal Khalsa.

“American Sikhs are God-fearing people and attack on them and that too at a time when they worshiping in their sacred place, is something that needs to be taken seriously.” he added.

In this statement expressing deep pain at the continuing hate crime incidents in USA, Dal Khalsa has appeal to the US government and US civil society to take all effective measures to stop recurrence of such criminal attacks against Sikhs.

– Human rights activist and Senior Lawyer Navkiran Singh (@singhlawyer) wrote on Twitter.

“Tragic news this night regarding shootout in Sikh Gurudwara in USA. Pray for the safety of all there”, Parmjeet Singh Gazi (@iamparmjit), President of Sikh Students Federation wrote on Twitter.

“Shooting incident in Wisconsin Gurudwara is really sad. Shows the frustration and hatred level in the society. A deplorable act” Punjabi comedian and actor Jaspal Bhatti (@JaspalBhatti69) wrote on Twitter.

Meanwhile the Shiromani Akali Dal Amritsar, Khalsa Action Committee, Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) have also issued statements expressing their greif on shootout tragidy.
