Sikh yatris leave for Pakistan to mark death anniversary of Maharaja Ranjit Singh

Amritsar: A jatha of 319 Sikh yatris, led by Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), left for Pakistan yesterday to attend a function to mark the 177th death anniversary of Maharaja Ranjit Singh.

Apart from attending the event at Gurdwara Dehra Sahib in Lahore on June 29, the Sikh yatris will also pay obeisance at Gurdwara Nankana Sahib, Gurdwara Sacha Sauda, Gurdwara Panja Sahib, Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib and Gurdwara Rori Sahib. T

SGPC member Gurmeet Singh said that the Jatha would return on June 30.

SGPC chief secretary Harcharan Singh said of the 343 names were sent to Pakistan high commission, 24 were denied visa.
