Amritsar, Punjab (August 21, 2013): Firing a salvo against PGI doctor Dr K Gauba for “showing disrespect” to Sikh religious articles like kara and kirpan, the Dal Khalsa on Tuesday demanded suspension and registration of a case against him for hurting the religious sentiments of not only aggrieved students but also of Sikhs at large.
Party head H S Dhami said it was highly painful to hear that Dr Gauba and the in-charge of the school in Sector 36, Chandigarh has asked Amritdhari students to remove their Kara and Kirpan before entering the examination hall during paramedical entrance examination, few days ago. Adding insult to injury, Dr Gauba asked students to give it in writing that they were voluntarily removing the articles of Sikh faith.
Dhami said Dr Gauba and his ilk have shown how much hatred they are carrying against the unique character of the Sikhs. Urging that such people needs reprimand from the society, he said Sikhs are facing hate crimes not only in foreign land but also in their own motherland.
“The act of Dr Gauba is intolerable and unacceptable”, said Ranbir Singh, head of Sikh Youth of Punjab. Sikhs are fighting for their honour across the globe, but ironically back in India, they are being subjected to such kind of humiliation.”
