Sikhs from various countries arrive in Pakistan; Massive arrangements in wake if Gurpurb celebrations

Nankana Sahib, Pakistan (November 16, 2013): A large number of Sikh Yatris from various countries have reportedly arrived in Pakistan to celebrate the 545th Parkash Gurpurb of Guru Nanak Sahib Ji.

Nankana Sahib, the birthplace of the first Sikh Guru, situated in Pakistan’s Punjab province, is of prime importance to the Sikhs.

According to Hindustan Times (HT) Syed Faraz Abbass, the Deputy Secretary, Shrines, Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB), said that nearly 2,000 foreigners from countries, including the US, the UK, Canada and France, would participate in the pilgrimage for 10 days.

He said the Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (PSGPC) and Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) had made elaborate security arrangements for the safety of the visiting Sikh devotees.

Syed Faraz Abbas reportedly added that the luggage scanners would be installed at the entrance of Gurdwaras. Additional walk-through gates and surveillance cameras have also been installed at various places where the devotees would be visiting.
