StarPlus shows up it’s anti-Sikh mind; Another attack by Indian Entertainment media on Sikh principles

July 17, 2014 | By

New Delhi, India (July 17, 2014): India’s entertainment media has been repeatedly indulging in activity that tends to harm Sikh principles.

It’s an established and well-known fact that the Sikh religion has no place for idol worshipping and Sikh Gurus have condemned/ rejected the practise of idol worshipping in “Gurbani” (the Sikh Scripture).

But StarPlus TV channel in it’s serial “Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai” aired on 16 July, 2014 did not only show a Sikh girl, married in a Hindu family, as worshipping idols but went a step further as she was shown as reciting Gurbani as “Aarti” (prayer) while worshipping Hindu idols.

The Gurbani (Moolmatar) recited in the episode itself rejects the idea of idol or avtar worshipping as it declares that Akal Purakh “ajooni” (one who does not take birth or die) and further that Akal Purakh is a “timeless” existence (One on which time does put have any impact) and it’s eternal truth.

The issue have been topic of hot debate on social media sites and most of the Sikh participants believe that such activities were not result of any ignorance rather these were part of well thought conspiracy to attack Sikh principles under the disguise of “entertainment”.

The video was also put on YouTube by StarPlusTV at url: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Za3pJe4IXZk with title “Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai 16th July 2014 FULL EPISODE” but it’s access has now (at the time writing this news) been limited in access and YouTube displays the message “This video contains content from Starindia, who has blocked it on copyright grounds”.

Previously Colours Channel had named it’s serial as “Gurbani”, a scred term used to refer to the Sikh Scripture.
