State of Haryana Defying Orders of Court on Hondh-Chillar

Chandigarh (June 15, 2012): All India Sikh Students Federation (AISSF – Peer Mohammad) and Sikh for Justice (SFJ) blamed Congress ruled State of Haryana for defying the Orders of Punjab and Haryana High Court extending the ambit of Justice T.P. Garg Commission to include additional areas. The April 27 order of the Acting Chief Justice MM Kumar and Justice Alok Singh directed the State of Haryana to enlarge the terms of reference of Justice T.P. Garg Commission so that the claims of the victims belonging to the areas of Patuadi or any other area of District Gurgaon are also considered by the said Commission.
Justice T.P. Garg was appointed to head a Commission by State of Haryana on March 05, 2011 in response to the discovery of Mass Grave discovered in village Hondh-Chillar, District Rewari wherein several dozen Sikhs were killed and their properties were burnt in November 1984.
According to Tajinder Singh Sudan, legal counsel for SFJ, State of Haryana is in contempt of court for not complying with the April 27 Orders of the High Court directing the State of Haryana to enlarge Justice Garg Commission’s scope of inquiry to include the claims of the victims of November 1984 Sikh Genocide belonging to the areas of Patuadi and Gurgaon. Since State of Haryana has failed to issue any notification so far, SFJ and AISSF will approach Punjab and Haryana High Court if appropriate steps are not taken by June 30th for implementation of the Court Order, added advocate Sudan.
Congress (I) which is ruling the State of Haryana, is obstructing the investigations into the systematic killing of Sikhs during November 1984 by not following the Court’s order stated Karnail Singh Peermohammad, President AISSF. “Since the Genocidal attack of Sikhs during November 1984 were planned and carried out by Congress leaders, the present Government of Haryana is trying to shield those who were involved in the massacre of Sikhs at Pataudi, Gurgaon and Hondh-Chillar, as it has been doing during the past 28 years”, added Peermohammad.
Surjit Kaur whose lost twelve members of her family during November 1984 genocidal attack on village Hondh-Chillar stated that “I have been waiting for the justice for the last three decades and successive commissions have failed to bring the perpetrators to justice”. Even Justice Garg after passage of one year, has not visited Hondh-Chillar and has not taken any action on FIR Number 91 dated November 03, 1984 registered at Jatusana Police Station. In November 1984 genocidal attack on Hondh-Chillar, Surjit Kaur lost both parents, two younger brothers, grandparents, three uncles and three aunts.
