As per Indian media reprots, India's Minister of external affairs, Sushma Swaraj, raised the issue of pro-Khalistan Sikh activism in Canada with John Baird, Foreign Minister of Canada. Ontario, Canada (August 23, 2013): It is learnt that Sikh diaspora organizations of Canada like the Canadian Sikh Coalition (CSC) and Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) are planning to chase and target Punjab cops for their role in torture of Canadian citizens in Punjab. As per information CSC and SFJ are planning to prepare a case, which will be presented to the Canadian government, declaring Punjab police force as violator of human rights so as to deny its officers visas to that country.

Fearing litigation Punjab Dy. CM Sukhbir Badal cancels visit to Canada

Ontario/ New Delhi, Canada/ India (August 23, 2013): As per recent reports the deputy chief minister of Punjab Sukhbir Singh Badal has cancelled his planned 10-day visit to Canada on August 22, 2013 after the Canadian government said that they will not offer any immunity to him against any civil suit that may be filed against him there. They have also allegedly refused to provide him security during the trip.

Ottawa, Canada (August 12, 2013): As per information extended by Moninder Singh Director/Spokesman of Canadian Sikh Coalition (CSC), the CSC earlier had written a letter to Hon’ble Jason Kenney, Minister of Citizenship, Immigration Canada, on the admission of Punjab Police Sub Inspector Surjit Singh, murdering 83 Sikhs in early 1990s at the direct orders of his senior police officers, naming present Police Commissioner Ludhiana Paramjit Singh Gill and an admission of direct link with DGP K.P.S.Gill., in carrying out the “Encounters”, executions in Punjab from 1980-1995.
