The preamble of this act says that this bill is "to amend the Code of Civil Procedure, 1908 to provide for protection to the farmers from attachment of land as a consequence of the farming agreements to safeguard his livelihood".

As per The Farmers Produce Trade and Commerce Special Provisions and Punjab Amendment Bill no sale of paddy and wheat in Punjab will be valid unless it is paid equal to or over MSP. Imprisonment of three years and a fine in case anybody compells a farmer to sell his agricultural produce below MSP.
The Supreme Court of India (SCI) today stayed arrest of former Punjab DGP Sumedh Saini in Balwant Singh Multani murder case. The case was heard by a bench of Justices Ashok Bhushan, R. Subhash Reddy and M.R. Shah.
A petition moved by former DGP and murder accused Sumedh Saini is listed for hearing in the Indian Supreme Court for Tuesday (September 15). Sumedh Saini has been hiding to avoid his arrest after his anticipatory bail petition is dismissed by the Punjab and Haryana High Court in Balwant Singh Multani murder case.
Punjab's former DGP Sumedh Saini is booked for custodial torture and murder of a Sikh youth Balwant Singh Multani in 1991. After his anticipatory bail is rejected by Punjab and Haryana High Court, Sumedh Saini has applied for bail in Supreme Court of India (SCI).
Anticipatory bail application and FIR quashing application of former DGP Sumedh Saini in Balwant Singh Multani murder case are dismissed by Punjab and Harayan High Court. The High Court had heard the arguments in both cases yesterday and the order was reserved for today.
