Amritsar, Punjab (November 13, 2013): It is learnt that the Shiromani Gurdwara Prabhandak Committee (SGPC) has got clearance from Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh to install air-conditioned system at historic Gurdwara Manji Sahib diwan hall near Sri Darbar Sahib, Amritsar.
Amritsar, Punjab (October 27, 2013): It is learnt that Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana who is confined in Central Jail Patiala had urged Akal Takht Sahib to issue a directive/message to the Sikhs that they should not play crackers on November 03, 2013 – the day of Diwali, celebrated by Sikhs as Bandi Chhor Divas; and deposit donate that amount for the welfare of victims of November 1984 Sikh genocide.
Amritsar, Punjab (August 25, 2013): As per certain media reports teh Indian Institute of Techonology (IIT) has suggested redesigning of the kitchen at Guru Ram Das Langar at Darbar Sahib, Amirtsar so as to aviod the pollution. As per inforamtion the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has already started working in this direction as per advice of the institute.
Chandigarh/ Punjab (July 29, 2013): As per media reports in its suggestions for curbing the effect of pollution on the Harmandar Sahib Amritsar, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) on July 29, 2013 submitted before the Punjab and Haryana high court that the area around Harmandar Sahib should be declared a no-vehicle zone and the entry of heavy vehicles should be banned inside the walled city.

Amritsar, Punjab (January 24, 2012): NBC comedy show host Jay Leno's derogatory remarks about Darbar Sahib, Amritsar have enraged Sikhs in Punjab. Avtar Singh Makkar, president of the Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) said Leno's remarks were unfortunate. "They hurt the feelings of Sikhs” he added. He said that innumerable Sikhs have lost their lives to uphold its honour and dignity and this is a sensitive issue.
