The Uttarakhand police stopped a group (jattha) of over 140 Sikh pilgrims from Delhi who were on their way to Haridwar to visit Gyan Godhri Gurudwara at Har Ki Pauri on Saturday.
The state police today detained Gurcharan Singh Babbar with around fifty other persons at Ponda Sahib in Uttarakhand, while they were on their way to the site of Gurdwara Gian Godri Sahib in Haridwar.

Uttarakhand, India: Sikh activists Gurcharan Singh Babbar and Ajmer Singh Randhawa has said that the police has covered-up every village of Sikhs around Haridwar and every Sikh house and no Sikh was permitted to step out and celebrate the Gurpurab day of Guru Nanak in Uttarakhand. They said that the police crackdown was directed by Harish Rawat led government in Uttarakhand.
Uttrakhand, India: Uttrakhand Police reportedly arrested S. Gurucharan Singh Babbar along with many prominent Sikh leaders today early morning at 4.00 A.M. at Haridwar's Jwalapur Subzi Mandi. Gurcharan Singh Babbar of All India Sikh Conference had declared to celebrate the Parkash Gurpurb of Guru Nanak Ji on November 06 at the place of Gurdwara Gyan Godri Sahib at Har Ki Pauri in Haridwar.
During a meeting of five jathedars at Akal Takhat on Sunday, Akal Takhat Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh took note of alleged “derogatory remarks” that were passed against the Akal Takht jathedar by Gurcharan Singh Babbar, a Delhi-based Sikh, who runs an organisation called the ‘All India Sikh Conference’.
All India Sikh Conference president Gurcharan Singh Babbar, in a letter to the Uttarakhand chief minister Harish Rawat, has informed about their plan to reclaim the land on which the Gurdwara Gyan Godadi Sahib stood.

These police personnel had not fulfilled their duties and instead illegally disposed of thousand of bodies of Sikhs in an inhumane way.

Later on they were arrested by Sehaspur Police on the orders of SDM Sri Tripathi and SSP Dr. Jagdish Chand.

Amritsar, Punjab (November 27, 2012): There are reports that Uttrakhand Governemnt has deployed heavy police force to prevent Sikhs from going to Haridwar. “Sikhs heading to Haridwar for the three-day birth anniversary celebrations of Guru Nanak Dev, beginning November 27, at a spot near Har ki Pauri […] may lead to a standoff with the Uttarakhand Police deploying forces in and around Haridwar to prevent any law and order problem”.
New Delhi (October 28, 2012): All India Sikh Conference headed by S. Gurcharan Singh Babbar has criticised the Centre for failing to punish those involved in the November 1984 massacre of Sikhs. The group has demanded immediate judicial action against the perpetrators of the violence.
Amritsar, Punjab (November 8, 2011): Gurudwara Gian Godri, a Sikhs Gurudwara that was set up at Har-ki-Pauri in memory of Guru Nanak Dev's to Haridwar in 1504-05, was destroyed by notorious mobs as a part of genocidal violance against Sikhs in November 1984.
