India Canada Diplomatic Tensions

The World Sikh Organization of Canada (WSO) has issued a statement expressing disappointment with RCMP Commissioner Mike Duheme's recent comments, which suggested a halt in India-linked transnational repression in Canada. The WSO argues these remarks contradict both recent CSIS findings and the lived reality of Sikh Canadians.
A coalition of leading Canadian Sikh organizations has called upon federal MPs to make tangible commitments against Indian transnational repression, expressing deep dissatisfaction with partisan responses and the lack of diplomatic progress.
During a recent Panthic gathering in Moga, the pro-freedom Sikh organization Dal Khalsa raised deep concerns over alleged transnational repression and recent police encounters, seeking direct accountability and a political resolution from the Union Home Ministry.
Following the recent visit of Indian National Security Advisor Ajit Doval to Ottawa, the Sikh Federation Canada has expressed deep concern over the Canadian government’s engagement with Indian officials. The organization is calling for a suspension of high-level security agreements until full accountability is achieved regarding transnational repression and the assassination of Bhai Hardeep Singh Nijjar.
