A trial court in Jalandhar today acquitted Sikh leader Bhai Daljit Singh Bittu and British citizen Jaswant Singh Azad in a case registered by the Punjab police under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
Sikh leader Bhai Daljit Singh was acquitted by a local Ludhiana court today in a 2012 UAPA case.

He was granted bail by Punjab and Haryana High Court in October 2013, and he was released from Kapurthala Jail on November 1 as per court orders. [...]
Kapurthala, Punjab (November 1, 2013): It is learnt that Jaswant Singh Azad, a British citizen who was arrested in September 2012 was released from Model Jail, Kapurthala on November 1, 2013. He was released at around 8.30 PM.
Chandigarh (October 28, 2013): According to information available with the Sikh Siyasat News (SSN), Sikh political leader Bhai Daljit Singh Bittu’s bail petition was allowed by Punjab and Haryana High Court after extensive arguments on October 28, 2013. Bhai Daljit Singh was booked by the Punjab police under notorious law called “Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act” for political reasons.
Ludhiana, Punjab (November 30, 2012): According to information available with Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) former president of Akali Dal Panch Pardhani Bhai Daljit Singh Bittu and British National Jaswant Singh were brought to Ludhiana from Maximum Securit Jail (Nabha) and Kapurthala Jail respectably.
Ludhiana/Jalandhar, Punjab (November 05, 2012): According to information available with Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) Jaswant Singh Azad, a British Citizen who was booked by Jalandhar police under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, has been booked in another case under UA(P)A by Ludhiana police.
Jalandhar, Punjab (October 26, 2012): It is learnt that on October 25, 2012 Akali Dal Panch Pardhani leader Bhai Daljit Singh was produced in the court of Judicial Magistrate Daisy Bangar by a police party headed by Bimal Kumar, SHO of Division number 8 police station (Jalandhar). Police told the court to send Bhai Daljit Singh in judicial custody and did not sought further police remand.
According to a news report by "Express News Service" (ENS) police remand of British national Jaswant Singh Azad is further extended for two more days.
Jalandhar/Punjab (October 03, 2012): According to media reprots Wife of British Sikh citizen Jaswant Singh Azad has claimed that her husband was innocent. She has also sought the intervention of British High Commission against the arrest and detention of her husband.
