Jathedar Akal Takhat Sahib

Recently, Giani Raghbir Singh, Head Granthi of Sri Darbar Sahib and former SGPC-appointed Jathedar of Akal Takht Sahib, held a press conference in which he accused the SGPC of serious mismanagement and corruption. He appealed to the Khalsa Panth to convene a Sarbat Khalsa to deliberate on and address these concerns.
A three-day seminar was held at Mastuana Sahib under the banner of Akal College Council and various Sikh organizations, focusing on the ideology, structure, and rejuvenation of the "Shiromani Akali Dal."
Sikh Jatha Malwa organized a Gurmat Samagam in the memory of Teeja Ghllughara on 7 June 2025 at Gurdwara Sahib, Patshahi Novin, Bhawanigarh (District Sangrur). Speaking on this occasion Bhai Mandhir Singh of Panth Sewak Jatha Doaba (PSJD) reflected upon the events of Ghallughara '84 and the current situation of the Sikh institutions and personalities.
The chaos and disarray within Sikh institutions have escalated further. The SGPC's executive committee has unilaterally dismissed those it had previously appointed as Jathedars of Akal Takht Sahib, Kesgarh Sahib, and Damdama Sahib, making new appointments without consulting the broader Sikh community.
The instability in Sikh politics and the management of core Sikh institutions has increased following the decisions made on December 2, 2024, from Akal Takht Sahib.
