Amritsar, Punjab (January 24, 2012): NBC comedy show host Jay Leno's derogatory remarks about Darbar Sahib, Amritsar have enraged Sikhs in Punjab. Avtar Singh Makkar, president of the Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) said Leno's remarks were unfortunate. "They hurt the feelings of Sikhs” he added. He said that innumerable Sikhs have lost their lives to uphold its honour and dignity and this is a sensitive issue.

“Darbar Sahib is such a respectful place that any person existing in this world is not even equivalent to a dust particle in front of this sacred place. Jay Leno, you don't know anything about this religion and this place and you are definitely guilty if you say anything wrong about it” wrote Karanbir Singh.
