Derailing his party from the demand of Chandigarh to hand over to Punjab as its capital, Punjab deputy chief minister and president Shiromani Akali Dal Badal (SAD-B) Sukhbir Singh Badal has cleared deck for New Chandigarh near Asli Chandigarh.

Chandigarh (July 26, 2013): The Haryana CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda has once again asserted Haryana's complete right over Chandigarh. CM Hooda reportedly said on July 25, 2013 that Haryana would "definitely get" Chandigarh.

Haryana CM Hooda asked Punjab to vacate the city of Chandigarh

Chandigarh/ Punjab (July 22, 2013): The city of Chandigarh that had been one of the unsettled issued between the states of Punjab, Haryana and the Union of India; once again could the issue to heated political blame-game. As per media reports the Haryana state has once again asserted it's claim over the city of Chandigarh. Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda reportedly said on July 21, 2013 that Punjab should vacate the Chandigarh if it wanted to set up a new city, called New Chandigarh.
