Punjab Education Minister O.P. Soni today handed over appointment-cum-offer letters to 257 English and 342 Hindi subject teachers. He also handed over appointment letters to 6 clerks, 3 library restorers, 1 SLA and 16 class four employees on compassionate grounds. It is worth mentioning that appointment letters were given to 2082 teachers in Amritsar out of total 3582 teachers, whereas the matter related to English and Hindi subject teachers went to court. And today, after the court's verdict, the appointment letters were given to the remaining teachers in Mohali.
Captain Amarinder Singh said historically, the people of Punjab have been very intimately associated and have identified themselves with this university right from its inception. The Panjab University occupies an emotional place in the minds of Punjabis on account of historical, regional and cultural reasons. Right from the beginning it has emerged as an educational and cultural symbol of Punjab’s legacy and inheritance to an extent that it has almost become synonymous with the state of Punjab, he said.
