Hoshiarpur, Punjab (May 9, 2014): A Hoshiarpur court today pronounced a 25 years old case related to enforced disappearance of Kuljit Singh Dhatt. Dhatt was the son-in-law of Shaheed Bhagat Singh’s sister Parkash Kaur.
A day after a Ropar court ordered framing of charges against Punjab DGP SK Sharma and others in the kidnapping of Kuldip Singh 24 years ago, his father Ajaib Singh hopes against hope for his son’s return.
Amritsar, Punjab (January 31, 2014): As per information available with the Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) the Khalra Mission Organisation (KMO) demanded a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to be formed by the Badal government for probing the fake encounters and enforced disappearances by Punjab police and other Indian security forces during 1980s and 1990s.

Chandigarh/ Punjab (January 24, 2014): It is learnt that less than a year after Patiala’s Special Judge for CBI cases sentenced Amritsar’s Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rural, Preetpal Singh Virk and Inspector Shamsher Singh to 10 years' rigorous imprisonment in an abduction case, the Punjab and Haryana High Court has refused to suspend their sentence.
Bathinda, Punjab (January 15, 2014): It is learnt that eight Punjab police cops, who were convicted by the Bathinda additional sessions judge on January 10, 2014, were sentenced to life imprisonment in a 21-year-old custodial death case here on Tuesday.

New Delhi, India (November 29, 2013): It is learnt that a Delhi court on Thursday, November 28 pulled up Punjab DGP Sumedh Singh Saini for adopting "delaying tactics" in a 19-year-old kidnapping case against him in which three persons related to a Ludhiana-based business family had 'disappeared' after being picked up by the Punjab police.

New Delhi, India (November 21, 2013): It is learnt that a Special CBI court at Tis Hazari, Delhi cancelled the exemption granted to Punjab director general of police (DGP) Sumedh Saini from personal appearance, on Wednesday (Nov 20) and issued an order directing DGP Saini to remain present on November 28, 2013 in an abduction and elimination case of three members of a Ludhiana-based business family in 1994.
Amritsar, Punjab (September 06, 2013): It is learnt from certain media reports that the beard of an Amritdhari Sikh was cut by the Amritsar police while he was in the police custody. Certain media reports have pointed the finger towards Bikramjit Singh Majithiya, a Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) leader who is also brother in law of Punjab's Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal.
Amritsar, Punjab (July 29, 2013): A Punjab police constable who had joined the police force in early 1990s witnessed about 15 innocent killings by police officers. He decided to blow a whistle against this unlawful practise; so he quitted the police force and filed a petition in the Punjab and Haryana High Court in 1994, informing the cold blood murders by the Punjab police that were witnessed by him.
Jalandhar, Punjab (July 17, 2013): Recently a Punjab cop Surjit Singh (SI – Sub-inspector) stunned many by openly admitting that he was involved in various fake encounters in Punjab in which at least 83 persons were killed by him at the orders of his superior police officers. In a petition before the Punjab and Haryana High Court, while seeking security, Surjit Singh presented a list of 16 fake encounters.
Ottawa, Canada (July 16, 2013): The World Sikh Organization of Canada has raised the issue of threats to sub inspector Surjit Singh with Canadian Parliamentarians and asked that they do all they can to impress upon Indian authorities to provide him with the necessary protection so that he can freely tell his story.

Chandigarh (July 09, 2013): It is learnt that the Punjab and Haryana High Court has dismissed a Public Interest Litigation filed in the 'fake encounters case' by a Jalandhar resident.
Chandigarh/ Punjab (July 09, 2013): It is learnt that a Jalandhar resident has moved to the Punjab and Haryana High Court seeking arrest of Punjab cop Surjit Singh SI, who recently admitted before media that he was part of many fake encounters carried by the Punjab police during 1990s. He said that he eliminated 83 people in fake encounters at the directions of his superior police officer.
Surjit Singh’s petition has been made available to the World Sikh Organization, that has shared it's details with the Sikh Siyasat News (SSN). The revelations contained in the petition are absolutely chilling and at times, gruesome. They include descriptions of the crushing of one Baghel Singh with a bullet proof vehicle and the murder of Gurcharan Singh by force feeding him a cyanide capsule.
