Dal Khalsa has urged the Punjab and Haryana High Court to set up a “judicial commission” to probe a large cache of illegal weapons still lying with select serving policemen and the use of unlawful brigade known as “cats” by the security forces in the name of fighting militancy in the state.

The Punjab police is reportedly verifying the legality of DIG Gurinder Dhillon's controversial orders reinstating murder convict former inspector Gurmeet Pinky into the police force. Gurmeet Pinky was convicted to imprisonment in 2006 for life in Avtar Singh Gola's murder (2001) case. He was released prematurely by Punjab government in May 2014.

Gurmeet Pinky reportedly today visited New Delhi on May 22 where he met a number of senior BJP ministers, including India's Home Minister Rajnath Singh. Media reports say that dismissed cop also met certain MPs from Punjab and a RSS leader to plead his case of reinstatement.
