Chandigarh, Punjab (April 07, 2013): Punjabi Cinema is on the rise now a days. According to information more than 70 movies are currently on the floor - under shooting in Punjab. Some are terming the contemporary period as "Golden era" of Punjabi Cinema. Punjabi music industry is also quite on the boom in terms of money making. Music industry is being considered as an entry point to the Punjabi cinema and most of the famous singers are now engaged in movies.
Ambala, Haryana (February 28, 2013): According to recent media reports it appears that the opposition to vulgar songs and obscene videos is gaining momentum. This could bring more trouble for controversial singers who restore to vulgar songs and obscene videos for earning money.
Patiala, Punjab (February 20, 2013): According to media reports: "[g]iving impetus to the public outcry against lewd suggestive songs, students of Punjabi University on Wednesday blacked out Punjabi singers known for spreading vulgarity, during the varsity's annual fete".
Jalandhar, Punjab (February 8, 2013): There are reports in media that Punjabi Rapper and film artiste Yo Yo Honey Singh, besides some others, has been warned and threatened by a some militant organization.

Lucknow/Ludhiana, India/Punjab (December 31, 2012): As per information available with Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) rapper Honey Singh has been booked by police for his vulgar songs. An FIR was reportedly lodged against rapper Honey Singh on December 31, 2012 for offensive lyrics in some of his songs.
Phagwara, Punjab (May 31, 2012): As per reports on May 30, 2012 the “Istri Jagriti Manch” - IJM (Women awareness platform) staged a demonstration outside the house of Punjabi Singer Geeta Jaildar to warn him against his objectionable songs derogatory to the honour of women.
