The Damdami Taksal (Mehta) and SGPC yesterday launched 'Kar Sewa' for Shaheed Gallery to be build in the memory of June 1984 Ghallughara Sikh martyrs.
It is learnt that the Damdami Taksal is going to start work on Shaheed Gallery to be built near the Akal Takhat Sahib from July 6.
Demanding installation of portraits of Sikh martyrs at Kendari Sikh Ajayabghar instead of raising demand to open the Shaheed Gallery has given rise to the suspicion that this move may lead to an attempt to bury down the 'Shaheed Gallery' issue.
Amritsar (May 06, 2011): Shiromani Akali Dal (Panch Pardhani) today took up the issue of opening “Martyrs' gallery” situated at Sri Akal Takhat and building up the memorials of “Sikh Martyrs” of June 1984. A delegation comprising senior leaders of Panch Pardhani tendered a memorandum to Giani Gurbachan Singh, Jathedar of Sri Akal takhat, in this regard.
