The New Democratic Party of Canada stands in solidarity with the Sikh community and with independent human rights organizations. We call for justice for the survivors and an explanation for why and how this community was targeted by organized mobs.

UN should probe the November 1984 killings as it did in the case of Benazir Bhutto’s murder

The gathering before UN is to highlight the denial of justice to the victims of November 1984 and expose the impunity to those who perpetrated violence against Sikhs.

Amritsar, Punjab (October 30, 2013): According to information available with the Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) Sikh organization “Dal Khalsa” has approached the ‘UN Women’ focusing on the plight, pain and agony of the Sikh women victim of November 1984 massacre in Delhi and elsewhere in India.

“1984 Yes Its Genocide” petition gets 1 million signatures; Sikh bodies to submit petition to Geneva on Nov. 01

New York/ Chandigarh (October 29, 2013): It is learnt that around 1 million (ten lakh) persons have already signed the Sikh Genocide 1984 Petition. The shall be submitted to United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay in Geneva by various Sikh and human rights organizations on November 1, 2013 which marks the 29th anniversary of the genocide of Sikhs in November 1984.

US lawsuit against Sonia Gandhi: Congress lawyer sees improper practice by Sikhs for Justice

New York, USA (October 24, 2013): According to certain media reports Congress Party’s council US – Ravi Batra said Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) had indulged in "improper judge-and-venue-shopping" while filing lawsuits against the leaders in several federal courts. He was referring to recent lawsuits filed by the Sikhs for Justice and the victims/survivors of Sikh Genocide 1984 in US Federal Courts.

US court hearing – 1984 genocide victims to file amended complaint against Sonia Gandhi

New York: (October 23, 2013): During the initial hearing in the pending human rights violation case against Congress President Sonia Gandhi the rights group “Sikhs For Justice” (SFJ) filed affirmation of Service with the US Federal Court. The affirmation of service claims that pursuant to Court’s order the plaintiffs served the Sonia Gandhi through hospital and security staff at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York.

Sikh Genocide 1984 Petition to be submitted to UN on 1 Nov

Jalandhar/ Ludhaina, Punjab (October 17, 2013): It is learnt that on the occasion of 29th anniversary of Sikh Genocide 1984, a petition signed by around a million Sikhs throughout world, will be filed with the United Nations in Geneva on November 1, 2013. The Sikh Genocide Petition will be handed to Navi Pillay, UN human rights chief by a delegation of rights group “Sikhs for Justice” (SFJ), All India Sikh Students Federation (AISSF) and Gurudwara representatives from Europe and North America.
