There is no rationale for the continued detention of Sikh British national, Jagtar Singh Johal, who was abducted during a visit to India to get married, and has now spent over eight years – 3089 days – in prison without a foreseeable end to his case, UN experts* said today.
A Gurmat Samagam was held on 3 June 2025 at Gurdwara Sahib, Village Bhamme Kalan, District Mansa, Punjab. Speaking during this samagam Bhai Mandhir Singh shared his views on the changing global and regional landscapes, including shifts in international politics, geopolitics, and regional stability.
In January 2014, declassified UK government documents released under the 30-year rule confirmed long-held suspicions within the Sikh community: that foreign governments, including the Margaret Thatcher-led British government, were involved in the Indian Army’s June 1984 military assault on Sikh Gurdwaras across Punjab and neighboring states.
