Brampton Council Affirms Support For Its Residents Affected By India’s New Agriculture Laws

At its October 14th meeting, Brampton City Council unanimously passed a motion to support and stand in solidarity with Brampton residents and their families who have been adversely affected by farming bills recently passed in India. The motion was moved by Regional Councillor Gurpreet Singh Dhillon and seconded by Regional Councillor Martin Medeiros.

Pro-India Elements Under Investigation For Threatening Sikh Activists with Guns in Brampton

At least eight persons are under investigation by Canadian police for threatening Sikh activists with a hand gun on August 15. Brampton Stands Up Against Quebec Bill 21’s Infringement of Religious Freedom

On Wednesday June 26th Brampton Council unanimously passed a motion to support the legal challenge against Quebec’s Bill 21. This discriminatory bill restricts the wearing of ‘religious symbols’ by public servants such as police officers, judges, prosecutors, school teachers, and principals, among others. Bill 21 particularly affects members of the Jewish, Muslim and Sikh faith who tend to wear very visible ‘religious symbols’.
