UK: Sentencing in case of London attack on Kuldeep Brar deferred to October 21

London, United Kingdom (September 21, 2013): It is learnt that the sentencing of three Sikhs convicted of carrying out an attack on Indian army’s retired Lt Gen Kuldip Brar was postponed to next month by a British court on September 19, 2013.

Mandeep Singh Sandhu, 34, Dilbagh Singh, 36, and Harjit Kaur, 38, were found guilty by the Southwark Crown Court in London on July 31 and were to be sentenced by the same court on September 19, however, the sentencing was scheduled for October 14 as part of general procedural changes in court listings.

It is notable that Lt. Gen. Kuldip Brar was one of the commanding officers who attacked Sri Darbar Sahib (Amritsar). Indian army used tanks and heavy machine guns as a result the building of Sri Akal Takhat Sahib was badly damaged. Thousands of Sikh devotees were killed by the Indian army in this attack. The army had also burnt the national Sikh library named “Sikh Reference Library”.
