TALWANDI SABO — An equestrian endurance competition was successfully organized at Guru Ki Kashi in Talwandi Sabo to honor the memory of Jathedar Baba Maghar Singh. The event was hosted by the Virasati Khed Akhara Sri Anandpur Sahib at the camp of Dal Baba Bidhi Chand Ji, in special collaboration with the Indigenous Horse Society of India and the Lakhi Jungle Khalsa Jatha.

The competition, held on 3 April 2026, rigorously tested the stamina and physical endurance of the participating horses, requiring them to cover a distance of thirty kilometers at a continuous trotting pace. Riders and horses from across Punjab participated in the grueling test. Prominent groups that took part included the Panth Sewak Jatha Doaba, Lakhi Jungle Khalsa Jatha, Sikh Jatha Malwa, Bhai Dall Singh Stud Farm, Budha Dal, and representatives of Baba Dharam Singh.

Securing the first position was rider Gurbaj Singh on his horse Datta, representing the Panth Sewak Jatha Doaba. The second position was claimed by Nirpal Singh on his horse Gulab from the Lakhi Jungle Khalsa Jatha, while Parvinder Singh and his horse Dilbagh from the Sikh Jatha Malwa took the third spot. The top three winners were awarded cash prizes and medals for their outstanding performance. Additionally, a participation allowance was distributed to all competing riders to recognize their sportsmanship and effort in the traditional sport.

The prize distribution ceremony was led by a distinguished panel that included Jathedar Baba Maghar Singh’s brother, Jathedar Baba Jagtar Singh, alongside Colonel Sarpartap Singh, Bhai Sukhjinder Singh, Jathedar Baba Jaman Singh, Colonel Ashok Yadav, and Bhai Gurjit Singh.

The event also witnessed the presence of several notable personalities who gathered to support the heritage gathering. Attendees included Jathedar Baba Gurbachan Singh, Dr. Sandeep Singh Benipal, Dr. Tegchand, Jathedar Baba Paranjit Singh, Sukhveer Singh Chatha, Baba Jora Singh, Bhai Gamdur Singh Jhanduke, and Baba Dharam Singh Ji of Guru Ki Kashi.
