Website of Sikh for Justice (SJF) hacked – Complaint filed with FBI and other authorities

New York, USA (February 6, 2012): The website of Sikh for Justice (SFJ), (http://sikhsforjustice.org), a US based human rights advocacy group which is seeking justice for the victims of November 1984 Sikh Genocide, has been hacked. SFJ has filed a written complaint with the Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3), a Unit of Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) which is responsible for investigating and prosecuting internet crimes.

The cyber attack on the group’s website has come at a time when SFJ is in the midst of active litigation before the US Federal Court with Indian National Congress and Union Minister Kamal Nath for their respective roles in organizing November 1984 Genocide of Sikhs. According attorney Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, legal advisor to SFJ, the recent cyber attack on the SFJ website is part of the well coordinated efforts by certain quarters to silence Sikh community’s demand for justice which has gained global momentum through the active litigation at international forums. However, such nefarious attacks will only make the Sikh community more resolute and united in its pursuit of justice for victims of November 1984, added attorney Pannun.

According to Jatinder Singh Grewal coordinator SFJ Canada, since the groups is actively disseminating true facts and figures regarding November 1984 Sikh Genocide, those who are being exposed by such dissemination of information are trying to subvert the outreach efforts so the facts could remain buried as they have been for the past 27 years.

Since its inception, SFJ has led a number of causes where it exposed the human rights abuses against Sikhs and lack of justice to the victims.

  • Criminal complaint filed against Amitabh Bachchan with Australia’s Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions for inciting, aiding and abetting organized attack on Sikh population of India during November 1984.
