Mukatsar, Punjab (November 16, 2013): Punjab government’s “helping hands” turns out to be a cruel joke for many Punjab farmers whose crops were damaged by waterlogging. It is learnt that the Punjab government has issued compensation cheques for as less as Rs 3 to several farmers of Doda village in Gidderbaha assembly segment in lieu of the crops damaged due to waterlogging.

Sirdoolgarh, Punjab (November 15, 2013): It is learnt that a Sirdoolgarh court acquitted Sikh leaders, Bhai Daljit Singh Bittu, Bhai Sukhwinder Singh (Head of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satikar Sabha, Haryana) and Bhai Baljinder Singh Khasla (Head of Ek Noor Khalsa Fauj) along with 8 others in a 2008 case.
Chandigarh/ Nawanshahr (November 15, 2013): It is learnt that a month after the Punjab Police had told the Punjab and Haryana High Court that the names of people going abroad during the days of militancy in Punjab were blindly added to “black lists” terming them as “terrorists”, the police told the HC that it had deleted the name of one such victim who had approached the court seeking direction to get his name deleted from the infamous list.
Amritsar, Punjab (November 15, 2013): It is learnt that the Shiromani Gurdwara Prabhandak Committee (SGPC) has hired a private firm to restore the interiors/wall-paintings at Darbar Sahib (Amritsar). It had earlier planned to entrust the work to Baba Kashmir Singh Bhuriwale, but after resentment from certain sections the Gurdwara management body reportedly decided to hire a specialized private firm for this purpose.

Amritsar/ New Delhi (November 14, 2013): UK Prime Minister David Cameron is on three day visit to India. In wake of his visit Sikh organization, Dal Khalsa, has written a letter to the British PM. The Sikh body has raised various issues concerning the Sikhs with the visiting PM. A copy of the letter has been sent to the Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) by Kanwarpal Singh, political secretary of Dal Khalsa.
