Hunger Strike of Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa for the release of Sikh political prisoners languishing across the different jails of India has completed 72 days. This struggle was commenced by Bapu Surat Singh to ensure the release of those prisoners who have served their life sentences.

But now Harkinder Sikka has reportedly spoke to media presenting his version on the issue.

The debate surrounding depiction of Sikh Gurus is in focus again, especially in wake of controversy over upcoming movie Nanak Shah Fakir. Nanak Shah Fakir is a movie by Harinder Sikka who claims that the movie depicts the life and teachings of Guru Nanak Ji. The SGPC has already rejected this movie as it violates Sikh tenets under which Sikh Guru Sahib can not be depicted as a character of any play or movie etc.
Notwithstanding several pious pronouncements and official fiats, the Akali Dal led government failed enforce Punjabi in government offices, obviously under pressure from ultra Hindu nationalist party, BJP which is bent upon making Punjab suba a bi-lingual state .
