Amritsar: It is learnt that the Damdami Taksal is going to start work on Shaheed Gallery to be built near the Akal Takhat Sahib from July 6. The Shaheed Gallery is going to be constructed in the memory of Sikh martyrs who laid their lives defending the Darbar Sahib complex during Indian Army attack in June 1984.
The gallery will carry portraits of Sikh martyrs and it will be located in the basement of Gurdwara yadgar Shahid constructed in the memory of Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale and other Sikh Shaheeds of June 1984.
The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee recently passed a resolution clearing construction of Shaheed Gallery after Damdami Taksal (Mehta) chief Baba Harnam Singh Dhumma submitted a memorandum to SGPC chief Kirpal Singh Badungar in this regard. Pro-freedom Sikh groups, including the Dal Khalsa, have welcomed the move.
