India has dual standards of law; Death for Bhullar while 1984 culprits roaming free: AISSF

Chandigarh/ Punjab (April 12, 2013): All India Sikh Students Federation (AISSF) will approach Government of Germany, that deported Professor Devender Pal Singh Bhullar to India where he was facing death sentence, demanding that sentencing Prof. Bhullar to death will be against norms of International Law, as it prohibits deporting an individual to a country which practices death penalty.

“Indian Judicial system has double standards, one for majorities and the other for Sikhs, Sikhs like Bhullar are being convicted without having any witness testimony while on the other hand, and same court is demanding that 1984 victims should witnesses before even charging leaders like Tytler, Sajjan and Kamal Nath, who organized systematic killing of Sikhs”, a statement by AISSF reads.
Meanwhile on June 17, 2011 Germany’s Ambassador to India Thomas Matussek said Berlin would make an appeal to New Delhi against the execution of Prof. Devinder Pal Singh Bhullar.
“Our government will appeal to the Indian Government not to execute him. The EU representative, Catherine Ashton, has also written to the Home Ministry to spare him the death penalty.”
He said his country in principal was against capital punishment and would continue to make this point to an international court but would not appeal on Bhullar’s behalf.
AISSF President further said that when Indian government can take in account the feelings of Italian government then why can’t they respect feelings of Sikhs who are their own people and the Irony about Prof. Bhullar’s hanging is that he has been on death row for last 12 years.
It is a black day in the history of India, if innocent Sikhs are being hanged while those who master minded 1984 Sikh Genocide rule the country, stated Federation President Karnail Singh Peer Mohammad.
