Prof. Devender Pal Singh Bhullar

Professor Davinderpal Singh Bhullar is a Sikh political prisoner jailed in India since January 1996. He was earlier sentenced to death in 2000 and remained on death row for about 14 year as on 31 March 2014 his death sentence was concerted into imprisonment for life by Indian Supreme Court.
Aam Aadmi Party chief, Arvind Kejriwal, used to seek relief for Sikh political prisoner, Prof. Davinderpal Singh Bhullar, in the past but now when the latter's release is awaiting clearance by his own government, he seems to have put the issue on the back burner.
Sikh political prisoner Prof. Devinder Pal Singh Bhullar was released parole on Friday (3 April), Advocate Jaspal Singh Manjhpur informed.
It is learnt that the Indian Supreme Court has installed status quo prohibiting premature release of Sikh political prisoner Prof. Devender Pal Singh Bhullar. The SCI has passed this order on a petition moved by Maninderjit Singh Bitta.
Sikh prisoner Subegh Singh was released from Central Jail Patiala today. He was released in pursuance of directions of the Government of India (GoI). Subegh Singh was undergoing imprisonment for life and was jailed since his arrest in 1995. Subegh Singh was received outside the jail by activists of the Sikh Relief.

In September this year, the Government of India (GoI) had announced to grant special reliefs to nine Sikh political prisoners. As the Government of India did not disclose the names of Sikh prisoners many lists were making rounds, and these lists and reports were causing confusion.
The Government of India (GoI) last Saturday (Sept. 28) announced that it has decided to grant premature release to 8 out of 22 Sikh political prisoners who were sentenced to imprisonment for life and are confined in various jails across the Indian sub-continent.
