London, United Kigdom (July 22, 2013): It is learnt that the Kesri Lehar – the people’s movement commemorated the historic “100th Day milestone” of it’s vigil outside No 10, Downing Street, London, held against the Human Rights abuses in The Union of States Government India on 20th July 2013.
The vigil, by Kesri Lehar, which has been running around the clock continuously since 12th April, 2013, is urging the UK government to take notice of the human rights atrocities being committed by the Government of of India (GOI).
It is notable that the Kesri Lehar which has been actively promoting the issues in the UK parliament, has successfully had a debate in the UK Parliament on 28th February, 2013.
The event of 20th July, 2013 was attended by over 300 individuals, young and old, of all walks of life, from all over the UK. A delegation of 5 individuals, representing Kesri Lehar presented a letter to the Prime Minister, urging him to pro actively engage in ensuring that the Human Rights abuses in India receive appropriate attention from the UK government. Tanjot Kaur, aged 10, was invited to the door of No 10, to hand over the letter to the Prime Minister’s office.
Amongst those present at this event were, famed producer/actor Kuljinder Singh Sidhu, and fellow actor Dinesh Sood, of the Sada Haq movie. Also present was Harjinder Kaur, aged 58 said that the “100th Day milestone” of the vigil truly reflected both the resilience of the Sikhs who stood fast in their quest for justice and fairness for all in India, and of the true democracy that the UK has reflected, for supporting the peoples cause, and never hindering the round-the-clock vigil at the doorstep of it’s Prime Ministers office and residence. You can never dream of such a thing in India, she said.
The vigil which continues indefinitely, has been proactively providing informational flyers to the thousands of locals and tourists who pass by, educating them on the atrocities being committed by the Indian government agencies against it’s minority communities.
