Amritsar: After the jail transfer of Prof. Devender Pal Singh Bhullar to Amritsar (Punjab), there is likelihood that another Sikh political prisoner Gurdeep Singh Khera may also be shifted to some jail in the state. He is currently languishing in Gulberga Central Jail, Karnataka.
As per information the Karnataka government has agreed in principle to hand Gurdeep Singh Khera over to Punjab.
Sources said that Punjab government has already granted “no-objection certificate” (NOC) to jail transfer of Khera. A communique comprising Punjab govt.’s NOC and application for jail transfer of Khera, placed by his kin, was sent to the Karnataka government to which the Karnataka govt. has agreed.
“As the process has been initiated, the state government has also received some official documents from Karnataka related to the agreement between the two states, which is mandatory to be signed, as learnt. If Khera the things move as per schedule, Khera may reach Punjab anytime within the fortnight and he too would be lodged at Amritsar Jail, like Davinder Pal Singh Bhullar”, notes Daily Post.
