British Police Advise Two Sikh Activists In The UK To Enhance Personal Security

London: According to a report published in the Punjabi daily Ajit, British police have advised Khalistan activist Parmjit Singh Pamma and another Sikh activist living in the United Kingdom to enhance their personal security amid rising concerns following recent high-profile incidents involving Sikh activists abroad.

The news, filed from London by Ajit correspondent Manpreet Singh Badhni and published in the January 14 edition of the newspaper, states that the issue of security for Khalistan activists overseas has become a subject of intense discussion after the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar and the mysterious death of Bhai Avtar Singh Khanda.

Citing the report, Ajit noted that Parmjit Singh Pamma, an activist associated with Sikhs for Justice, was contacted by British police and advised to take precautionary measures, including installing security cameras at his residence and strengthening door locks, to guard against any potential attack.

According to the newspaper, Parmjit Singh Pamma has been receiving “continuous threats from Hindu nationalist elements.” Media reports quoted by Ajit say that the 52-year-old activist stated that police met him and urged him to increase his security after intelligence inputs indicated a possible threat to his safety.

As reported in Ajit, Pamma alleged that the threats were linked to the Government of India and accused UK ministers of failing to take what he described as India’s “persistent transnational repression” seriously. The newspaper quoted the report as saying that Pamma, who is campaigning for Khalistan, has been declared “wanted” by India and labeled a threat to national security.

The report further noted that in the 2024–25 report on transnational repression, the UK Parliament’s Joint Committee on Human Rights listed India alongside China and Russia. Ajit also recalled that Pamma was arrested by Portuguese police in 2015, but his extradition to India was blocked and he was subsequently sent back to the UK.

According to media reports as cited by Ajit, UK police have similarly advised one more Khalistan activist to remain vigilant and strengthen personal security.

A spokesperson for the UK Home Office said they do not comment on individual or intelligence-related matters. “We are proud of our diverse communities, and British Sikhs make a significant contribution to the strength of our society. Their safety, like that of everyone else in the UK, is a priority,” the spokesperson said.

Ajit further reported that Parmjit Singh Pamma had applied for political asylum in the United Kingdom in the year 2000.
