New Delhi: As per the media reports the Delhi High Court on Wednesday refused to stay the disqualification of its 20 Member Legislative Assembly (MLA’s) in ‘office for profit’ case, but restrained the Election Commission of India (ECI) from taking any “precipitate measures” like announcing the dates for by-polls till January 29.
During the hearing Justice Vibhu Bakhru reportedly sought response of the poll panel, the Centre on AAP MLAs’ pleas challenging their disqualification for holding office of profit.
The high court summoned the entire records pertaining to the proceedings leading to the recommendation of the ECI for 20 MLAs’ disqualification which received the Indian President’s assent on January 20. It was on last Sunday that the Indian President upheld the decision taken by ECI to disqualify the 20 MLA’s of AAP.
