Five soldiers of Indian Army killed at LoC; India summons Pakistan Envoy; Pak rebuts India’s allegations

Srinagar/Delhi (August 06, 2013): As per media reprots India accused Pakistani Border Action Team on August 6, 2013 of ambushing an Indian army patrol and killing five of its troopers on the Line of Control (LoC). As per Indian media reports “[i]n the wake of the killing of five soldiers along the Line of Control (LoC), Army Chief Gen Bikram Singh will on August 07, 2013 visit Poonch to review the security situation there”.

According to a news reported by The Hindu: A senior South Bock official summoned Mr. Khan and delivered a strong message on the killings that closely followed the attempt to attack the Indian consulate in Afghanistan’s Jalalabad city.

On the other hand Pakistan has strongly rejected the Indian stance. As per Pakistan Today: “Pakistani Foreign Ministry spokesman said Pakistan remained committed to the ceasefire agreement of 2003, which was an important confidence building measure and should be respected in letter and spirit”.
