Amritsar: Dal Khalsa on 5 July 2025 organised a tribute ceremony at Darbar Sahib (Amritsar) complex in memory of its founder Gajinder Singh and Hardeep Singh Nijjar where Ardas was performed and glowing tributes were paid to both of them.
The leaders of prominent Sikh organizations, SGPC head Harjinder Singh Dhami, Jathedar Kuldeep Singh, SAD Amritsar chief Simranjit Singh Mann, Narien Singh Chaura, Bhai Mohkam Singh, Head Granthi Bhai Malkiat Singh participated in the Samagam.
On behalf of Sikh organizations, SGPC head Dhami honoured Bhai Gajinder Singh family members that includes his brother Darshan Singh and sister-in-law Tajinder Kaur with Siropas. Dhami also honored Bhai Satnam Singh’s fellow hijacker of Bhai Gajinder Singh.
Meanwhile, Giani Kuldeep Singh and Singh Sahib Malkiat Singh presented siropas to Panthic leaders who participated in the Samagam. Leaders of Dal Khalsa and Mann Dal said Gajinder Singh and Bhai Nijjar dedicated their entire life to accomplish the mission for Khalistan. They owe respect from Sikh people.
It may be mentioned that Gajinder Singh passed away last year in Lahore on July 3, and Bhai Hardip Singh Nijjar was killed by the Indian agency hired gangsters on June 19 2023.
Dal Khalsa leaders Harpal Singh Cheema, Kulbir Singh Barapind, Kanwar Pal Singh and Paramjit Singh Mand asked Harjinder Singh Dhami to install portraits of Bhai Gajinder Singh and Bhai Nijjar in the Sikh Central Museum.
Paramjit Singh Mand reminded Dhami about the directions given by Akal Takhat to SGPC to install pictures of both Sikh leaders. He said it’s ironic that a year has passed but SGPC hadn’t paid any heed to Takhat directives.
Talking to the media, Simranjit Singh Mann and Paramjit Singh Mand said that two years have passed but Canadian government has failed to expose and arrest the conspirators behind the killing of Bhai Nijjar. Kanwar Pal Singh said that Canada’s Parliament paid tributes to Nijjar. He said in the same way, the SGPC should pay tributes to Bhai Nijjar in its general house.
It is pertinent to mention that Bhai Gajinder Singh, has spent a long stint in Pakistan after he along with four associates hijacked the Indian plane in 1981 to protest against the arrest of Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindrawale. He was sentenced to life imprisonment in hijacking case by Pakistani court. In September 2020, Bhai Gajinder Singh was awarded the title of Exiled Sikh warrior by the Akal Takhat Sahib. Last year, Jathedar, Akal Takhat directed SGPC to set up his picture at the Sikh Museum.
