List of persons killed by Punjab cop Surjit Singh SI in fake encounters at superior orders

Chandigarh/ Punjab (July 08, 2013): According to a news reported by the Day and Night News (DNN) suspended Punjab cop Surjit Singh (Sub-Inspector) has stated that he had actively participated in four encounters first. In these encounters Sheetal Singh Mattewal, Deputy Chief of Dashmesh Regiment of Khalistan and seven others were killed”.

According to DNN, the petition moved by Surjit Singh SI in Punjab and Haryana High Court states that Mattewal’s encounter was real but later, his wife Narinder Kaur and two brothers were picked up and killed extra judiciously.

He has also given a list of 16 other encounters, which according to his petition were fake and several persons were killed under the supervision of Paramjit Singh Gill, the then Senior Superintendent of Police, Amritsar, who has been promoted to the post of Inspector General of Police and is presently posted as Commissioner of Police, Ludhiana.

Following is the list of persons killed by Surjit Singh SI in fake encounters at superior orders during early-mid-1990s in Majha region of Punjab:

• Joginder Singh S/O Kulwant Singh, resident of Bagha
• Kulwant Singh Kanti resident of Sialka, one Lt-General of KCF and some unidentified persons
• Mangal Singh Manga S/O Mohan Singh Jatt, resident of Arjan Manga
• Gurcharan Singh Bishnandi resident of Jaito
• Prem Singh Bittu S/O Dalip Singh Majhabi, resident of Boparai
• Nirwail Singh Gaguboa
• Kewal Singh Dhillon
• Balkar Singh Balli resident of Kot Khalsa
• Harbhej Singh Bheja resident of Nawan Pind
• Kabal Singh Chhotepur
• Harnek Singh
• Balraj Singh Babbi S/O Gurdial Singh, resident of Sargarh Dehradun
• Gurmeet Singh Mita S/O Gandha Singh, resident of Kaleke
• Surjeet Singh Shagga, resident of Chhachhowali and 4 others
• Bhupinder Singh Bhinda
• Harjinder Singh Jina, resident of Uboke
• Bir Singh (Former Sarpanch), resident of Udoke
• Harjinder Singh Jina alias Baba Ranjit Singh alias Balbir Singh Thekedar and his wife Kulwinder Kaur, resident of Khabbe Rajput
