A memorial gathering for Bhai Jaswant Singh Khalra in Amritsar called for the release of records on the army assault on Sri Darbar Sahib and alleged fake police encounters, an independent inquiry and the release of Sikh prisoners.
Following a complaint by the victim's mother, a Gurdaspur court has directed telecom companies and authorities to secure the call records, GPS locations, and CCTV footage related to the police officers involved in the Ranjit Singh encounter. A medical board will also probe an officer's alleged gunshot wound.
Following the controversial pre-dawn alleged police encounter of 19-year-old Ranjit Singh in Gurdaspur, political leaders and human rights organizations are intensifying their demands for an independent CBI investigation, questioning the official police narrative.

A CBI Special Court in Mohali has convicted three Punjab Police officers for their involvement in the 1992 fake encounter murder of Sikh youth Harjit Singh. Former Inspector Dharam Singh, Assistant Sub-Inspector Gurdev Singh, and Sub-Inspector Surinder Singh were found guilty of their roles in the conspiracy and murder.
