Chandigarh: Aam Aadmi Party on Friday (July 1) criticized Punjab BJP Chief, Vijay Sampla for turning a blind eye to the issue of drug menace in Punjab by saying that the issue is being exaggerated by the opposition parties.
AAP leader Gurpreet Singh Ghuggi said asked Sampla to clarify the need of drug de-addiction centre in state if there is no drug menace in Punjab. “The SAD-BJP alliance opened drug de-addiction centre for women at Amritsar that is first of its kind in India and still says that the problem is just a minor issue” Ghuggi said.
Gurpreet Ghuggi said that even the All India Institute of Medical Science in its report has said that drugs of worth Rs 6000 Crores are sold in Punjab every year but the SAD-BJP alliance is running from taking responsibility.
“Every day the newspapers in Punjab are reporting of people being dying of overdose of drug but Sukhbir and Sampla are still not coming out of the denial mode.” Ghuggi added.
Comedian-turned politician asked Sampla if he trust the words of his party man and Prime Minister, Narindra Modi as he himself has showed his concern over the drug menace in Punjab in radio program ‘Mann Ki Baat’. “It would be better if SAD-BJP leaders including Sukhbir and Sampla come out of deep slumber and do something for the addicts rather than denying it”.
