Panj Pyaras set 1 Jan. deadline for SGPC to remove rejected Jathedars

December 28, 2015 | By

Amritsar: Renewing their earlier stance the Panj Piaras of the Akal Takhat Sahib today asked the Shriomani Gurdwara Pharbandhak Committee (SGPC) to release the Giani Gurbachan Singh and other persons who were holding the position of Sikh jathedars from their services as Takhat Jatehdars by 1 January 2016.

Notably Takhat Jatehdars, including Giani Gurbachan Singh, Giani Mal Singh, Giani Gurmukhi Singh were rejected by the Sikh panth after they had announced so-called pardon to Dera Sauda Sirsa chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim in September 2015. The pardon was later withdrawn in wake of strong opposition by the Sikh masses.

Striking strong note for not implementing their earlier Gurmata issued by the Panj Piaras, the Panj Pyaras asked the SGPC to remove Jathedars by January 1, otherwise they would announce next course action on January 2, 2016 before the Sikh panth.
