Parliamentary Questions raised in the UK Parliament with regards to Bhai Gurbaksh Singh and Sikh political prisoners

London: In a press release sent to the Sikh Siyasat News (SSN), the Sikh Federation (UK) announced that Jim Cunningham the Labour MP for Coventry South has raised the following Parliamentary Questions in the UK Parliament with the British Foreign Secretary with regards to Bhai Gurbaksh Singh and Sikh political prisoners:

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, what representations he has received on the hunger strike of Bhai Gurbaksh Singh in India; and if he will make a statement.

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, what discussions he has had with his counterparts in the Indian government on the continued detainment in India of political prisoners who have served their sentences.

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, what discussions he has had with his counterparts in the Indian government on the treatment of Sikhs in India.

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, what steps his Department has taken to ensure that prisoners in India are released once they have served their prison sentences.
