Punjab Cabinet Calls Session of Punjab Vidhan Sabha from Aug. 24 to 28

Chandigarh: The Punjab Cabinet has decided to summon the next session of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha from August 24 to August 28, 2018.

A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of the Punjab Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh here today.

With the Cabinet decision, the Punjab Governor has been authorized to convene the 5th Session of 15th Punjab Vidhan Sabha, as per clause (1) of Article 174 of the Constitution of India.

Giving details, a spokesperson of the Chief Minister’s Office said that the session would commence on August 24 in the afternoon with obituary references. Legislative Business would be transacted in both, the morning and evening sessions on August 27. The house would adjourn sine-die after the proposed legislative business on August 28.

The session assumes special significance as the Punjab government has announced to table the report of Justice Ranjit Singh Commission in the Punjab assembly during this session. Meanwhile, Justice Ranjit Singh today handed over his full report to the Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh (READ MORE).
