Patiala: Amidst the controversy over removal of chapters on Sikh history, including the Sikh Gurus period, from class 12th history books published by Punjab School Education Board (PSEB), GurGian Institute for Human Concerns (GIHC) has sough immediate estoppel on printing of the books. Scholars and academicians attended a meeting of GIHC at Patiala On Saturday (April 28) and decided to form a fact finding committee which will submit its report with in 3 days.
Dr. Gurmeet Singh of GIHC, who is also head of Guru Gobind Singh Department of Religious Studies at Punjabi University Patiala, maintained that the controversial changes in text books were part of a controversy under which not only the chapters on Sikh history were removed from text books but the historical facts were also distorted.
Dr. Gurvir Singh of GIHC said that fact finding committee will sent its report to Punjab CM Capt. Amarinder Singh seeking stern action against those responsible.
PSEB Director (Academics) Manjit Kaur denied allegations regarding distortion of facts. She said that the Sikh history is divided into two parts and some chapters have been included in class 11th books which will be published in coming days.
