Saka Nakodar Martyrs, Jathedar Gurdev Singh Kaonke’s Portraits to be places at Central Sikh Muesuem in Darbar Sahib Complex

Amritsar: The Shiromani Gurdwara Prabhdandak Committee (SGPC) today passed a resolution to place portraits of Sikh martyrs of Saka Nakodar, Jathedar Gurdev Singh Kaonke and Bhai Harminder Singh Dabwali at Central Sikh Museum in Darbar Sahib Complex.

The information was extended to the Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) by Baldev Singh ‘Littran’, Father Shaheed Bhai Ravinder Singh.

S. Sukhdev Singh, office secretary of SGPC chief Prof. Kirpal Singh Badungar confirmed the development over phone. He said that there was a meeting of the SGPC executive committee today where a resolution was adopted to place portraits of four Sikh martyrs of Saka Nakodar 1986 at Central Sikh Museum.

Sukhdev Singh further said that the SGPC has also resolved to place portraits of Jathedar Gurdev Singh Kaonke and Bhai Harminder Singh Dabwali at the Central Sikh Museum located inside the Darbar Sahib complex.

Notably, on the 4th of February in 1986, Sikh Student Federation (SSF) members gathered in Nakodar to collect the Saroops of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji which were desecrated and burnt in Shri Guru Arjan Dev Gurudwara, Nakodar on 2nd February 1986 by some anti-Sikh elements.

The police had opened fire at peaceful gathering of Sikhs and four Sikh namely Bhai Ravinder Singh Littran, Bhai Harminder Singh Sham Chaluper, Bhai Baldhir Singh Fauji and Bhai Jhalman Singh Rajowal Gorcian, were killed.

Jathedar Gurdev Singh Kaonke, was acting jathedar of Akal Takht Sahib when he was tortured to death by the Punjab police during enforced disappearance.

Bhai Harminder Singh Dabwali was killed by followers of Dera Sauda Sirsa.
